Literally why I’m still sitting here on my Pixel 5.
In the past, manufacturers seem to “innovate” every few years and reinvent the small form factor phone. I’m waiting, hoping we see that trend breaking again soon.

Wow, this is great to know! I had no idea.
The onshore tax havens Delaware, Wyoming, and Nevada are vastly worse in scope than any offshore country. They push the narrative about those “terrible foreign countries” to distract us from this fact.
The problem is US tax code, not offshore financial centers.
Thanks! We’re all happy. But it’s not over for us just yet. The corporation that owns our hospital (Tenet Healthcare) is notorious for shenanigans, and we’re anticipating they’ll try to drag this out to see if they can induce us to revote in a year because we’re dissatisfied with the union. (I think our vote margin finally got them to give up on just trying to make us all so miserable that we quit.) But we’ll keep fighting. We live here; this is OUR hospital.
I wish you all the best in your campaign. I think the only advice from my experience that I would offer is be willing to extend grace. Patience with the ignorance and stubbornness of some of our coworkers bought us a lot of new yes votes by the end of our campaign. Especially when they were actively receiving the opposite from our administration.
Damn, what a great reference. I really wish I had this during our 3.5 month unionizing drive because those motherfuckers tried ALL OF THIS.
I’m proud to report that three weeks ago we won our union vote by a margin of 5:1. Our union organizers all said they’ve never seen a success ratio like that in their careers. We’re a very spirited community hospital.
Nice Nebelung you have there. Love them ❤️
Concur. I’m a huge Trek fan, and The Expanse fits that blend of optimism and realpolitik.
Yes, Massachusetts. I have a dual fuel heat pump with natural gas backup installed in 2020, so it’s a newer system. And I have one heat pump mini split in the least energy efficient, but most used room in my house (large, high ceilings, exterior walls on three sides, and a skylight).
The first couple of years I noticed when it got just below freezing, the central heat pump seemed to struggle to keep up. Then this year I replaced my windows and got new wall insulation in both of the main bedrooms and bathrooms (previous insulation was original from the 1960s and shredded to bits with huge gaps.)
After those improvements, I’ve been running my heat pump down to 20⁰F/-7⁰C so far without any issues at all. I’m excited to see how cold we can get and this system still keep up. I am still supplementing my one large room with the mini split, but that’s mostly because all my plants are in here, so I keep this room warmer than 68⁰F/20⁰C.

I’d miss you guys. I’ve jumped in on conversations on your instance a couple of times and it always seems like a nice place
What you are seeing in public is a phenomenon of Evangelical Christianity being amplified for political gain. There are religious puritans who genuinely and sincerely believe that the mere exposure to the existence of non-cis hetero people will cause actual cis hetero people to “become sexual deviants.”
Which, in their world, it probably looks like that. Oh your perfect totally-and-completely-straight child “suddenly became” gay after learning online that gay people exist? To these ignorant puritans, it really seems like a magic transformation when in reality it’s just standard-issue coming out of the closet. They have zero understanding that, if you wouldn’t repress people in the first place, this wouldn’t happen because there wouldn’t be a closet to come out of.
But back in the 90s, they fully lost the crusade against cis gay people. Cis gay people are normalized to the point that my very evangelical aunt now happily accepts her lesbian daughter.
The politicians who used to leverage this bigotry against gay people to drum up votes know this, so they moved on to the new bogeyman of the day: trans people. I see the exact same verbiage used now against trans people that was used against gay people (and especially gay men) in the 90s. “They’re really pedophiles, they’re a cult that’s recruiting and corrupting your children, they’ll turn cis people into something they’re not, it’s not safe for children to be exposed to this ideology.”
Those exact same things were said about gay people in the 90s, literally word for word. Even the “trans agenda.” In 1992, it was the “gay agenda” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay_agenda
This is why I have a patch on my bag that reads “Evil is boring.” Because these bigots can’t even come up with a new script. It’s the same old thing over and over and over, just with new targets.
It’s obvious to anyone who isn’t completely terrified of sexuality that the existence of trans people is not a threat to anyone anywhere ever. What you’re seeing is nothing but bigotry being leveraged for political gain.

I might have had an entire backyard dance choreographed to this song when I was a kid. Maybe. I’m not telling.
Not true really. Wayfair is just a drop shipping company, in a similar vein as Amazon. Except with actual customer service. You can search specifically for solid wood furniture, so you don’t end up with cheap MDF toy furniture, their reviews are accurate and not gamed, and their search has robust filtering so you can drill down and find exactly what you want. I buy a lot of shit from Wayfair that is definitely better quality than Ikea.
That doesn’t mean their CEO isn’t a labor abusing bag of dicks. I still think they should unionize.
I went to great lengths to get my family group chat migrated from FB Messenger over to WhatsApp, and then Meta bought WhatsApp. I’m doomed. I’ll never get these Americans to transition to something like Signal
I have neighbors who got a one story tall inflatable dragon for Halloween last year and just left it up until Christmas. It was so popular that this year they have an entire yard full of Christmas dragons. I love it.
I’m in the middle of book 7 and holy what a shift. I’m in the part where it’s so overwhelming, you can’t even begin to imagine how this will get resolved. Very excited to read the last two books.
This kind of passive bigotry is necessary for genocides to occur. It is the foundation on which the mechanisms of genocide are built.
It’s not just no good; it’s terrifying.
My friend, ongoing ignorance IS malice. I’m sorry to be the one to break this to you, but your family are just plain old racist.
(I say that as a person from a family full of very friendly, very racist people.)
You know, I should buy a spare. Thanks for the idea
