  • So Israel did the same thing as Iran, an attack that signals strength but isn’t really a serious attack, but Iran actually ended the current issue here. I wonder if that’s a level of finger too, that Israel couldn’t stop without having the last word, but Iran actually could.

Both countries don’t really want direct war with each other at this point, and Israel specifically has its hands full with Gaza and Hisbollah right now, its allies urging it to tone down the carnage and they have to snarl at an Iran that isn’t even willing to fight against the US wishes. I can only take from this that Netanyahu that war will end and he has to take his hat.

  • I also liked that it doesn’t say that all followers of an ideology are good or bad people. A lot of media that tries to tackle ideologies just make everyone in the general direction of an opposing ideology horrible people. In Disco Elysium is not as black and white. There are good and bad people in every broad ideology. Are you a bad person, just because you believe in capitalism? No. Are you a good person, just because you believe in communism? Also no. Disco Elysium is very nuanced while making it’s cases.

  • In fact, the antifa was in the minority. And that’s no a bad thing in this context. Many people who would normally consider themselves unpolitical and wouldn’t want to touch antifa with a stick went out to show that they’re ready to take to the streets to protest the nazis. This measure of mobilization is rare in Germany and I didn’t think we were still be able to do that.

Importantly: even in East Germany a lot of people took to the streets. Hamburg and Munich were good to see, but less impactful given that the AFD is weak there in the first place. But when you have people in AFD strongholds having the bravery to stand up publicly, you know you have something special going on.
