  • I have a question but I don’t want to start a new thread so here: (Israel & politics related)

Why can’t Israel stop doing the genocide?

Clearly it’s not going well. It’s destroying their image not just in the west asia region, but also the entire globe. Being against Isn’treal is becoming more mainstream than ever. And they are paying a lot in (American) resources and lives.

Like it’s not like they can’t stop because they are in a war or something. At any moment, they can just turn around and say “we have achieved everything we wanted, war’s over”. There are no foreign occupiers in Israel except the Israelis. The whole 12 day Iran war could’ve been avoided entirely if they just didn’t bomb Iran out of nowhere.

Why? Why can’t they just stop? Why do they feel the need to keep going?

The only theory that makes sense is that the Israeli society is so twisted, they are basically doing blood for the blood gods now. But I don’t want to believe that, I believe in every country being rational actors. I’ve seen the harm of western media characterizing whole countries as “evil” or “hate us for our freedoms”, I don’t want to do the same. I feel like I must’ve been missing a critical piece of the puzzle here. What am I missing?

  • Right. Maybe it’s because my entire interaction with this slogan is on Youtube videos for a brief 1-2 years. I was able “get over it” because my discomfort with it was very tiny to begin with, that being seeing internet people in a video saying “kill all men”.

I never had conversations with bioessentialists or TERFs(beyond “ewww TERF goodbye”), never faced any direct attacks, never got involved in an argument over it. I can see it would be much more traumatic for someone with your experience. Thanks for sharing this perspective.

  • I mean, you did try to figure things out and attempted the fix yourself, I’d call that being handy. Next time you won’t make the same mistake again.

I had a cousin that had their tire run flat. And their first instinct was to give me a call. I explained you can quite easily replace it with your spare, both the spare and every single tool you need is located under the trunk mat. I then sent over a step by step guide, reference images for their specific car model, and a youtube video, also offered to guide them through the process via a video call.

A few hours later they told me they got their insurrance to send over a guy to change the tire, had to wait almost an hour, because “it’s just not something I do”.
