Most likely IT has restricted MFA to MS Authenticator. I don’t know if there is a workaround or if you should use it if there was. But I can totally understand you. Having no choice sucks.

I heard about it. However, I find the need to reinstall all apps via Obtainium quite painstaking and thus haven’t done so yet. It doesn’t provide auto updates either.

IMO it isn’t so much about knowing who you are, but where you are, what you do, what you like etc. From that they (e.g. G👀gle) will extrapolate a profile and do whatever they want with it - faked data or not.

Furthermore Fitbit belongs to Google. I wouldn’t use a Google product if I was concerned about privacy.

Before 2009 I was getting used to Linux with Ubuntu. By 2009 I switched to Fedora. Since 2020 I’m on Manjaro. Inbetween I payed many other distros a visit such as Arch Linux, CentOS, Debian and Puppy.

On servers I am for no specific reason on Debian and Ubuntu.

To install a degoogled Android aka custom ROM is way more efficient than to degoogle native Android aka Stock ROM.

However there are several ways to at least reduce the amount of spyware on Stock ROM:

• seek out all apps, you don’t use, and uninstall or deactivate them
• if you can do neither or in addition follow the method described by XDA developers (as stated in the article as well not all apps can be uninstalled without risk - so be careful)

I tend to switch mobile OSs frequently because of my curiosity for custom ROMs. Overall I mainly use FOSS Browser or iodé Browser (a fork of FF by iodé OS) and Tor on my mobile.

On my work notebook it is FF with AdBlocker (and Snowflake), rarely Edge, and Tor.

On my private notebook, which I use the least, it is FF with NoScript, Privacy Badger, and AdBlocker and Tor.

Vaultwarden for work, KeePass and KeePassDroid for private use.

Following solution 2 works well for me.

"For several days now, Aurora Store has been experiencing problems when searching for applications. This is due to limitations put in place by Google. While waiting for a fix, we can advise you the following two workarounds:

Solution 1: Create a ‘dummy’ Google account, disconnect the anonymous account in Aurora Store, then reconnect using this Google account.

Solution 2: Searching for applications in the browser on the Play Store site:

• Authorize the opening of Play Store links by Aurora: long press on Aurora icon, go to ‘App info’, then to ‘Open by default’, activate ‘Open supported links’, click on ‘Add link’, select the two proposed links.
• Search for an application on the Play Store site in the Browser, then without going to the application page, long click on the chosen application and click on ‘Open link in an external app’. If you go to the application page, you can use the Browser menu (3 dots at the bottom right), then click on ‘Open in an app’.

Solution 3: Install the latest development version, which automates the opening of the Play Store page as described above from a search made in Aurora Store."
