Florida business groups and their GOP allies are pushing legislation that would prevent communities from establishing workplace heat-exposure standards or compelling employers to abide by them, even as dangerously hot days increase in frequency.
Then they’ll target OSHA saying they’re trying to keep honest workers from doing their job, a liberal construct designed for lazy people.
I’ve worked construction for 8 years and employers don’t honestly care about following OSHA standards, they only care about getting caught. I’ve made reports before and nothing happens because they lie about conditions or dress it up. And I was in a union as well.
I’ve worked for a construction company for over 25 years. The safety culture has come a long way, but it’s not driven by wanting to keep people safe, it’s driven by insurance rates.
