Usually, when a cat hasn’t met humans before they stay away from them. That doesn’t always go, as some shy away from humans they don’t know or when they have been abused.
When a cat approaches a human or at least doesn’t shy away that’s a good sign they at least had contact before.
Dumb question: but how does someone know if a cat was abandoned or if they never had a human companion?

Makes sense to me. He hissed and swatted plenty at first but it didn’t take too long to warm up to us.
