Because I have to live on the same planet as the people that spend their time on radicalization tools? Because the more closed platforms are used, the bigger the damage to the open internet they do? Because I can’t even get current information on my neighborhood without it being mediated through an oligarch’s platform because “that’s what everyone else uses”? Because even elected officials are posting information that’s not available to people that don’t sign up to a service that’s owned by neo-nazi?

You have a point but there’s a huge chunk of people that aren’t well informed enough (we already all know of the people that simply don’t care, I’m not talking about those) and still use it.

I have to live on the same planet on people that do a lot of things that I don’t agree. That’s called living in a society.

You all lose time and energy lecturing people that are already on Fedi because they for some reason that you do not know are engaging with a platform that you don’t like. It’s just like, we all know Twitter bad. Chill.

I agree. Too many people use Twitter to just label them all shitty nazis. It’s as idiotic as blaming a whole religious groups for the actions of a few extremists.

And your comment about the uninformed is spot on. Tons of people are just not thinking about all this stuff for one reason or another, and in a sense I don’t blame them. If it wasn’t for my child I’d love to bury my head in the sand and just try and get through this maelstrom called life.

Like you said, most people just think Twitter sucks now and move on, at this rate musk will kill it for good in the next 5 years. That or it becomes a pathetic echo chamber like truth social.

I think it will die earlier, but who knows haha

Thank you for the reply, I’m not as good as exposing my opinions as English is my second language, but you understood exactly what I meant!

If people would consider that a lot of people are easily charmed by big corporations because they offer convenience/easy to use service mostly because they barely have time for themselves I think the world would be a better place.

Why do we care if people support this Nazi platform or its owner?

You might not, I wouldn’t call caring about it pedantic though.

But how will people know I’m a cool edgy internet user if I don’t post “fuck twitter” and “AI bad” on every article without thinking that maybe people wanted to have a discussion about it?

“Capitalism bad” is the most annoying one. We’re all reminded every day that capitalism is bad, comments which just mechanically repeat an overwhelmingly popular opinion without adding anything to the discussion are something I hoped we’d left to die with reddit.

as long as you know you’re still hanging out at the nazi bar, I guess there’s no further discussion.
