BG3 is too clunky for me to enjoy anymore. That said, I did put a good 100 hours in it or so. Definitely one of the best games this year, no question there.

What make it clunky? (Guys please don’t dog pile hate on their answer I want to hear their critique (unless its bigoted))

i personally thought dialog was really clunky what with the one-and-done style vs nested trees a la Skyrim or Disco Elysium or Mass Effect or like literally any other RPG i’ve played in the last decade

edit: also nat 1’s being failures in skill checks, absolutely not a thing in 5e; skill checks are additive so even if your rogue rolls a 1 on acrobatics they still have a +12 to it so you might pass the check. so that was also clunky and annoying.

The gameplay itself was clunky and ponderous. One specific example I can give was the witch’s lair where there’s a waterfall that can (and must) be crossed but no pathing indicators to really indicate that it is even possible; you have to just force a jump through it and come out the other side, which more often than not anywhere else in the game basically can get you stuck or even soft-locked.

I got soft locked in the witch cave. The illusory door bugged out because one of my characters got possessed by the mask as they were inside the door. I couldn’t end their turn. I don’t remember the specifics because it was months ago. But I couldn’t end their turn because they weren’t under my control or something. And in realtime mode they were constantly switching between possessed and not possessed and couldn’t do anything.

You’re fine, and I appreciate your support. The biggest thing to me is the inventory. It’s a massive pain in the ass. I feel like 10% of my time playing is spent just managing inventory. It would be nice to be able to access everyone’s inventory and the camp chest from one place at least in the camp.

I haven’t played in a few months so these may be patched but there were multiple bugs. When moving items when the inventory was filtered it would swap with the item that would be where the inventory slot was instead of what was visually showing. Add all to wares never worked on the first try, I always had to do it twice. Having to walk ALL THE WAY across camp just to kick someone out of the party then add someone else and get their stuff out then walk ALL THE WAY BACK just to re add the other person is so annoying.

There are others but inventory was my biggest point of contention.
