From what I remember Ashton Kutcher (?!? What ever happened to that guy?) stars as a guy who had terrible shit happen to him as a child, learns how to time travel, and so he time travels and fixed stiff in the past, but ends up just making shit worse. Then he travels back and becomes a fetus and dies?!?!

IIRC they were healed over, they were scars. It’s the only scene I remember. It was my chem teacher’s favourite film so we watched it a few times in class.
Looked up the scene and yes, he goes back in time to give himself stigmata to convince his catholic Mexican cellmate (played by a white guy) he is in direct contact with Jesus.
