I see where you are coming from, and I see the possibility for these vouchers to reduce the stranglehold on media, but I fear you will still just get news media going more into radicalization, EG: it would be in the best interest of groups like infowars to really get unhinged because are you going to trust those virgin blood bathing, mind controlling, new world order lizard people.

I would consider looking at something more akin to the German media tax, or just make it like 0.5%incomtax that get’s put into the “media pot” and media institutions are paid by a set scale.

There are ways of solving such problems when they arise. We could take some elements from quadratic funding and allow people to make negative contributions to media sources they distrust as well as positive contributions to media sources they trust.

The German system sounds like the government gets to decide which organizations are considered media institutions, which sounds problematic

well in the German system it’s independent of the government, but honestly, populism is still worse, because you will get the same radicalizing pressures, but with “negative contributions” you now turned media into a winner take propaganda institution, ironically making the “manufactured consent” truth

if you allow people to “contribute negatively” then the largest unified block can and will out “negatively spend” other blocks, driving said “oppositional media” out of business.
