U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle declared the rules are unconstitutional and violate federal law. That means that all transgender Floridians who qualify for Medicaid should now be able to seek coverage of their gender-affirming care, plaintiff’s attorney Simone Chriss told Axios.
Suck on that Rhonda Santis, you fascist bastard!
The court’s decision is good news, but what the ever-loving fork is wrong with Florida? Other than RdS, of course, but I kinda doubt he could do this all by himself.
The rise of anti-trans legislation in the US is the work of numerous organized wealthy individuals and groups working together. Everything from major figures like Ron to large groups like the Family Research Council, Alliance Defending Freedom group, and so on.
Yeah you can see the incredible uptick in legislation illustrated here: https://translegislation.com/learn
Over 500 bills alone this year, over twice as many as the year before. It’s clear there’s a rich reactionary coalition who really don’t like the icky trans people
Thanks for the link! Looks like a great summary of current events. I am (sadly) aware of the stakeholders behind a lot of these discriminatory laws, and their inadequate and offensive excuses for passing them. But Florida seems to have a special flavor of toxicity. A friend of mine who grew up there says most of the state has been a garbage fire for decades.
