They should really just do the World of Warcraft thing and make all but the latest dlc free. Then new players won’t see a $400 wall of crap, the latest “baseline” patch of the game will never be unplayable because of balancing that happened in a dlc, they’ll still have an enticing purchase hanging out there for people playing the game, and most importantly they will still be able to charge hardcore players for every dlc that comes out.
I think they have a dlc pass subscription for some of their games to try and on-ramp new players. Still fucking sucks, though.

Or at least make a bundle for semi-annual sales where you get all the older shit for like $5 or something small. Right now it’ll be like
