social.treehouse.systemsAlright, so as I promised yesterday I've spent much of my day writing up my thoughts about the 2024 Democratic Party National Convention, and what I learned from observing it. Furthermore, as I promised you yesterday, I don't think what I have to say is going to make liberals high on "unity" vibes very happy, but I also don't really give a fuck because I'm just here to call balls and strikes while speaking truth (as I understand it) to power; and that's never going to change.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to say everything I had to say in a single post, and breakdown between sections didn't come in easy 5,000 character blocks, so this is going to be three posts, published one after another - sorry folks, it's either this or just taking the material directly to my website and I already did that once this week.
Finally I'm going to publish a bunch of source links underneath this whole thing; I would encourage low-information Stans caught in their feels to peruse those links before they try to call me a liar. You don't have to agree with my analysis, but if you start insulting my integrity because you have no idea what you're talking about, I will be hostile and you can expect rain. I didn't want to write this, but I feel like the shitshow that was this year's DNC forced my hand.
Alright, let's get on with the show...
It’s yet another demonstration of how ineffective electoralism is at stopping fascism. The Democratic Party is centrist (or center-left if we’re being generous). Centrism isn’t really an ideology, just a strategy for winning elections. Principles are just tools to be either used toward that end, or discarded. It does tend to be pretty effective, which is why it’s so prevalent.
Fascists, however, are committed to gaining power *by any means necessary*. While centrists are constrained by rules and norms, fascists have no such limitation. By discarding any moral restraints, fascists become far more effective at the centrist strategy than centrists could ever hope to be. In turn, the centrists are forced to double down on discarding any principles that they may have grown attached to, following the lead of the fascists in an attempt to catch up.
