I recently broke up with my partner, and that relationship helped me to realize how comfortable I am with being single. She wasn’t a bad person, but we are greatly incompatible, and I wouldn’t be able to be in a relationship long-term with anyone unless they’re a very niche kind of person. I’d rather be single than loosen my standards, full stop.

I might be open to less serious, more “”““casual””“” encounters, though. I’m not talking about one-night kind of things, as I’m not big on these kinds of interactions with absolute strangers, but I could be friends with someone who I’m a “bit more than just friends with but also not really.” (convoluted way of saying FWB lmao) However, I wouldn’t take anyone as a candidate for a life partner unless they were that niche kind of person I referenced above.
I’m really in the same boat. I got out of an abusive relationship so I am not ready for anything serious for a year or two. I would be open to a FWB thing because I’d like to be comfortable with someone and sleeping around kind of lost it’s appeal quickly to me.
I haven’t really looked that hard, but most of my experiences have been kinda negative. I have been a people pleaser with very low self esteem my entire life, and have decided to have some standards. I am finding that a lot of people just don’t respect other people’s time and I have no patience for that.
