I forgot to post this the past 2 weeks but im back. This past week a I played through the Demon’s Souls remake to get ready for Elden Ring DLC. I also played some Binding of Isaac on the side. Haven’t watched the Summer Games Fest, but everything I’ve heard is that it’s been dreadful.
Yeah you all finally convinced me to play CrossCode. Yeah it’s good.
I like how it combines a bunch of garbage like action RPGs, amnesia plots, and being trapped in an MMO, into something that’s actually great. It even has a fun mandatory stealth section.
Oh, and the jumping puzzles? Absolutely choice.
Impeccable vibes, too.
On vacation so finally breaking in my RG Arc. Started Minish Cap and am at the fire element dungeon. Gonna try and make some progress tonight while my partner has her DND session.
Enjoying it for the most part. I’m honestly hoping this will be the push to finally get me to make a proper attempt at Link to the Past since it’s a game that I’ve tried and out down a billion times.
Minish Cap is so pleasing on the eyes, really blows me away that it’s a GBA title. ALttP is great, but Minish Cap is smoother and sharper.
I’ve been enjoying its simplicity actually. This and Ocarina came from a sort of soft promise to my bestie that I’d finally give them and Metroid a solid try since they are his favorite games. The motherfucker still won’t play Hollow Knight though.
But for real though, finally digging into GBA games is like unlocking a part of what should have been my childhood. It’s a good catalog so far.
If you’re still cruising through GBA games, Advance Wars is super fun, as is Metroid: Zero Mission. So many bangers that still look and play amazingly well to this day.
As for your buddy, tell em a weird internet stranger is seconding Hollow Knight, it’s GOATed.
Ha will do lol. Advance Wars is on my radar.
Gonna tell him if he doesn’t play HK, then he’s a lib.
Single player tarkov with like 35 add on mods. I’ll never play the live version again.
How does it compare to S.T.A.L.K.E.R: GAMMA? That’s my frame of reference for those kinds of games.
Similar tone and setting but no weird science fiction stuff or mutants/monsters
Same, I’m grinding Light keeper quests right now and inshallah a friend will join me with project Fika
BF4… went back to it recently… what a fucking game.
Sometimes when the tanks are rolling in, the choppers are flying above, everything’s exploding and you’re running through it all, it really does feel like you’re in a movie. ONLY IN BATTLEFIELD is so true, and it makes me so sad that they’ve managed to fuck the franchise up so badly by trying to jump on the hero-shooter/battlepass shit.
I also think BFBC2, BF3, and BF4 feel extra visceral because they’re depicting (a roided up version) of conflicts that I’ve seen on TV and that have happened in my lifetime. I mean, BF4’s slightly futuristic but it still feels within reason.
i’ve been playing Nine Sols lately, i usually can’t stand games where you lose all your shit when you die but this one is pretty nice. like a little 2d Sekiro
watched a streamer play it and the boss fights get a little intense and really difficult lol. looks like a good game!
thankfully the checkpoints are forgiving and it only takes a minute or so to get back to where you were, at least in the beginning. now i’m dreading future bosses
Warhammer Fantasy Role-Play
Edit: Was a bit bumpy, but it’s the first time any of us have ever played it. Good time.
Dark Souls 3, Pyromancy only run (Specifically, I can only use the pyromancy glove to deal damage, so I can punch with it too). Surprisingly viable, lots of enemies are weak to fire or will flail when hit with it, and you get boulder heave and dark pyromancies to deal with fire resistant enemies. Shout out to Executioner’s Greatsword for the FP regen on kill, having it in my offhand has done wonders for my FP econ.
Beat SKALD: Against the Black Priory and am itching for some more RPG stuff. Need to dig through my backlog.
Any specific preferences?
Well old-school specifically, SKALD is a spiritual successor to the old-school Ultima games. I might just go get Ultima VII from GOG
Heck yea, that’s a good way to go.
I know Underrail is well-recieved among fans of classic cRPGs made in the modern era
Getting back into Dwarf Fortress so I’m ready to contribute to the Hexbear collective fort!
That and Enshrouded with a friend, when they’re around.
Been playing Planet Crafter with my wives. It’s a fantastic game that still needs a lot of work. Buggy as hell, but has a great foundation for a great game so long as the developers continue developing it.
Still strive and street fighter. Hit celestial rank for the first time off the back of day1 slayer players.
Played skullgirls and melee as well. Skuggs is not my thing while also being ridiculously . Melee is the same absurd execution check its always been. I just need to remember how to l cancel and then i can actually play the game
Im trying out the Zephon demo again…its like demo nr 8 ? (its a 4x game from the people behind 40k Gladius Relics of War)
I have made it to Yakuza Kiwami 2
An excellent choice
I’m working my way through the whole series. I started with 7 then wrapped around.
Similar but I started with zero. Detoured to like a dragon ishin
Been playing mostly balatro and bits of monster hunter rise on ps5.
I’ve beaten 19 challenges on balatro, but 20 is Jokerless which is so incredibly difficult. Deck manipulation is probably my weakest aspect of the game usually not coming online until ante 5 or 6. So I’m mostly working on beating some gold stake decks.
Monster Hunter rise I’m trying to learn charge blade. I did everything on the switch version with dual blades and light bowgun. So trying to learn this on a fresh file should be fun. Mostly been trying to muscle memory the basic charge, and amp combos into discharges. Early monsters are so annoying for moving around way too much. But it’s fun as always.
Still playing through the fourth and last Onimusha game, Dawn of Dreams. I’ve liked the entire series so far but it feels like they finally nailed an identity for the series with this last one. The first game shared like 80% of its genes with the first Resident Evil and the two sequels didn’t quite feel like they knew what they wanted to be.
With this one they settled on being a character action lite/hack-n-slash RPG and it’s just tons of fun. Never heard anyone talk about DoD before which is surprising
